How to change the registered mobile number in SBI?

Before we start, you need a valid username and password for SBI Internet Banking to change the registered mobile number using this method.

Method 1: Change the registered mobile number in SBI via Internet banking

  • Visit the official website of SBI-Online SBI. 
  • Log in to your account.
  • Now, go to the “Profile” tab.
  • There, click on the “Personal Details” link.
  • Now, enter your profile password.
  • You can see the display name, email ID and registered mobile number.
  • Click on the link that states, “Change Mobile Number- Domestic Only (via OTP/ATM).
  • A new screen will appear. 
  • There, you will be asked to enter a new mobile number. Register and submit.
  • A pop-up message “Verify and confirm your mobile number xxxxxxxxx” will appear on the screen. 
  • Click on “OK” to continue. It will display a new screen with two different modes for mobile number change approval: 

a) Through OTP on two mobile numbers 

b) IRATA: Approval of internet banking requests through ATM 

a) Through OTP on two mobile numbers: 
  • If you have new and old mobile numbers, they can approve a mobile number change with the help of OTP.
  • Click on the circular button that says “By OTP on both mobile numbers” and click on “Proceed”. 
  • Now select your debit card account and continue. 
  • Next, click on the active ATM card and select “Confirm”. 
  • The next screen will display the selected ATM card number. 
  • Enter the card details, i.e. Validity/Expiration Date, Cardholder Name, PIN and the text shown in the image, and click Continue.
  • After successful verification, the system will send the OTP and the reference number to your new and old numbers. 
  • Now, you need to send an SMS from your new and old numbers in the following format: 
  • Activate <eight-digit OTP value> <13-digit reference number> to 567676 within 4 hours. For example, activate 09876543 UMI12051500123.
  • After SMS verification, the new number will automatically be copied into Internet banking, core banking solutions and ATMs. 
  • You will also get a message about successfully updating the number on your mobile.
b) IRATA: Approval of Internet Banking Request through ATM
  • Click on the circular button that says “IRATA: Approval of Internet Banking Request through ATM” and proceed. 
  • Now select your debit card account and continue. 
  • Next, click on the active ATM card and select “Confirm”. 
  • The next screen will display the selected ATM card number.
  • Enter card details, i.e., validity/expiration date, cardholder name, and PIN, enter the text shown in the image, and click Continue. 
  • After the successful completion of the validation, you will receive the following message: 
  • “Thank you for registering the mobile number with us. The status of your request is pending. Please complete the registration process according to your chosen option. Click here to see the guidelines to complete the process. 
  • Then you will receive an SMS on your new mobile number saying, “Reference number for change/update mobile number: UMXXXXXXXXXXX and your IRATA reference number is XXXXXXXXX”. 
  • After receiving this message, you must visit a State Bank Group ATM, swipe your card and select the services option.
  • Enter your PIN.
  • Now, click the “Others” tab on the ATM screen to select ‘Internet Banking Request Approval’ and enter the 10-digit reference number for request approval. 
  • Once this process is completed, it will fulfil the request. 
  • Finally, after verification, it will update your new mobile number in Internet Banking, Core Banking Solution and ATM.
  • You will also get a message for this.

Method 2: Change registered mobile number with SBI through SBI ATM 

  • Visit your nearest SBI ATM and insert your debit card. Click on Registration and enter your ATM PIN. 
  • Click on the “Update Your Mobile Number” choice. 
  • Now, enter the old mobile number and confirm it. 
  • Next, enter the new mobile number and click on submit. 
  • You will receive OTP to both of your numbers.
  • After getting the OTP, you must send an SMS to 567676 from the new number. 
  • They will update your number after successful verification. 

Method 3: Change the registered mobile number in SBI through the SBI branch 

  • Visit your nearest SBI branch. 
  • Ask for a request letter. 
  • Fill in the necessary details and hand them over to the executive. 
  • After successful verification, the number will be updated by the branch. 
  • After completion, you will receive a message about the same on your registered mobile number.
